I'm a Mother!

3 min read

Hey friends!

My husband and I just had our first child!  He made mince meat out of me, but he's so cute!  And my husband is the best daddy ever!  I'm so excited!  I don't usually share a lot about my life online, but who could resist this news!

I was tagged by thecorsairmalack.deviantart.co…, so here goes.

1) What is your favorite picture anyone has ever drawn for you?
My character, mat27177.deviantart.com/galler…;
drawn by mat27177.deviantart.com/

2) What is your dream? The big one that keeps you fighting against the odds.
For my husband and I to live and raise a family in the Eden we imagine-private acreage in the country with complete independence from the city grid and teaching our children to have the love and respect for the world and nature that we do.

3) Why did you choose to be my DA friend?
You were one of the first people to comment on my artwork and you continue to be a source of encouragement and amusement for me.

4) Have you ever broken something when you were angry and regretted it afterwords?
Uh....  not when I was angry; I don't hit or throw things.  I DO trip a lot, though, and I've broken my nose 5 times and the same toe 3 times.  I'm very lucky that the broken noses were mostly small breaks and have not done much to alter my appearance.  They've done a LOT to alter my reflexes, though.

5) What is your opinion of chain letters, tags, and memes in general?
Some memes can be cool or fun, but most seem stupid or like a pathetic excuse to draw lots of sexual things.  I like sexual pictures like everyone else, but meme?  Come on.
I'll print out a chain letter, compress it into the shape of a spoon, and dig out the eyes of anyone who sends me one.
Tags are okay.

A lot of the photographers who supply stock photos on DA have a rule stating that anyone using their stock are not allowed to use them for anatomy reference or change the face on the original.  I'm very confused by this, since I have no desire to put someone else's face on the character i'm attempting to draw.

Does anyone know of any stock photographers who would allow me to use just a piece of the anatomy or the whole pose without the face in my drawings?

A DA friend of mine posted a poll and I responded, as did many other people.  Being a public poll, I and others responded to some of those people's comments.  If someone decides to debate a certain point, I will expect them to know what they're talking about.  To state an opinion based on a popular fallacy and with no personal time invested in research on the subject is simply asking for others to prove you wrong.  This can be done to an embarrassing extent if the original commentator decides to defend their uneducated view.  The debater's ignorance will be revealed along with researched facts and the opinions based on them.  No derogatory comments would be necessary or called for.

What bothers me is that I was simply disagreeing and then discussing my own opinion with a person or two.  But the majority of those people seemed to take offense at everything I said and thought I was insulting them.   It seemed to me that they simply couldn't take any criticism whatsoever.

I went back and read my comments and there was nothing there to suggest rudeness on my part.  I can only surmise that in general, people tend to take text at it's worst.  Do I have to use an emoticon after every sentence to express that I meant no offense and that I'm not speaking angrily?  The only punctuation I used were periods and question marks; no exclamation points.  Am I the only one with this problem?  -which would indicate that I just sound like a prick when I text discussions- Or is this fairly common?

Happy late Valentine's Day everyone!

I made heart-shaped chocolate-covered shortbread cookies for my husband, who was out of town until the night before Valentine's Day.

Then I ate them all.
